Here is a unique series of ceiling tile paintings inspired my J.F. Millet (1814-1875). Each tile is numbered, signed and dated. Rustic in appearance and style these works will embellish any home. Made from vintage metal ceiling tiles, they are a very unique gift idea. These tiles require no frame and are hung simply with two stick dowels and twine (included). Each tile's painting is set in a cathedral window shape and echoes a lost Arcadian world of shepherds and nature.
Man toils here though, as Millet found out growing up on his father's farm. Millet shows us that hard toil is admirable, even though to work the land without machines was soon to be a passing way of life. He loved the bucolic poetry of Virgil even in his youth and was able to later translate that passion into art.
Van Gogh said of Millet that he was like a father to young artists. Van Gogh and many artists since have been tutored by working with Millet's paintings.
An early example is Van Gogh's "The Potato Eaters".

Millet himself learned from the works of Rembrandt and Poussin. Millet will still convey this learning to anyone who listens.
